About Chris Wheeler
Christopher Wheeler is a Southern California–based fine-art photographer with nine years of freelance experience, whose lens captures the collision of cannabis culture, underground music, and urban exploration. Since rediscovering photography on a life-changing trip to New York City in 2010, Christopher dove headfirst into SoCal’s cannabis renaissance in 2016—documenting marquee events like the Emerald Cup, Chalice Festival, HighTimes Cannabis Cup series, Farmers Cup judging entries, and ASD Market Week.
His work has graced the covers of Vegas Cannabis, San Diego Reader, and TheCoastNews.com, and he’s shot icons such as Tommy Chong (commissioned by Jason Harris of Jerome Baker Design) and Ice Cube at the HighTimes Cannabis Cup—so evocative the rap legend reshared it on his own platforms. As a corporate photographer for KushCo (now Greenlane), Christopher captured their MJBizCon booth and the Dope Magazine after-party, where he was able photographed Mike Tyson.
A humble, self-taught artist “doing it all on my own,” Christopher placed 5th in the Architecture category at the 2024 San Diego County Fair—out of 4,000 entries across 16 categories—demonstrating his keen compositional eye and commitment to craft. Now, he’s channeling nine years of subcultural storytelling into a gallery-ready practice, preparing to release limited-edition fine-art prints and forge partnerships with galleries and collectors.
